What Is It?

Well, it's my birthday gift from my husband...

Bet you can't guess what it is!  I don't have any nifty prizes or anything but if you guess it correctly you have the satisfaction of knowing more than I did.  I had to ask after I had opened it.  "I know it's a chicken but "what" is it?"

My nine year-old thinks it's a Barbie "Chicken-Horse".  What do you all think?

Is it a can opener?

Nope, not a can opener, Bekka!

Boot Scraper. Did your husband make it? Nice.

Ding, ding, ding! Herrick got it. It is indeed a boot scraper! My husband didn't make it though. He found it on E-bay from a Mr. Robert Rosenberg of Middlefield, CT. I assume he is the artisan. Now which door to station it at?

Cynthia,

Out of curiosity I went to Ebay and looked at the completed sales for chicken boot scrapers. I found two that sold for a surprising amount. Neither made by Robert Rosenberg. They don't look hard to make and are charming. If I didn't have so much on my plate already, I'd figure out how to make a few and list them on Ebay myself. Perhaps your husband can do something similar. Fishing poles and chicken boot scrapers. I could not find a web site for Mr. Rosenberg. I think there is an opportunity here. :-)

Herrick, after chatting with my husband he said that he would enjoy making the boot scrapers but he would need to invest in too many knew items to start production and that would cost $$ we don't have. So perhaps one of our blog readers would like to take advantage of this niche market?

I'm trying to convince one of my sons to make either a chicken or pig boot scraper. We looked at plasma cutters. Everything is expensive. He may try cutting out one with a jigsaw and metal blade. I think he already has a simple welder. Thanks for the inspiration.
